CELTA certified instructor, Laura Calhoun, will be leading this program with day classes, field-trips and cultural experiences; all integrated with English language study and relevant learning. Trips will include: camp-outs, fishing, gold-panning, city tours, and bus and train adventures around beautiful interior areas of Alaska. For those wanting a bit more adventure there will be airplane rides with opportunities to learn aviation terms and enjoy excellent flight-seeing experiences.
Students will enjoy these activities with local children who are attending Southside Explorers on the same campus during the summer. These students come from a variety of cultures and speak English and other first languages as well.
Comfortable and safe lodging is provided along with meals, laundry, transportation, and down-time entertainment. On-campus activities include: archery, volleyball (even at midnight), soccer, softball, and many other fun outdoor opportunities in the incredible and long lasting sunlight of summer. The campus is located adjacent to a regional hospital, and a short walk to parks, downtown activities, and fire and police headquarters. Safety and health are of highest priority on campus. A Registered Nurse is available at all times for those staying on campus and there is full-time security in place.
